Gary Niebur has my unqualified endorsement for re-election as Mayor of Edwardsville. His commitment to making our city a better place to live, work and raise our children is evident in all that he has done during his tenure. We do want to continue the progress he has initiated.

We strongly support the re-election of Gary Niebur to another four year term as Mayor of Edwardsville. His beautification program has revitalized downtown Edwardsville and brought many new businesses to the area. Gary has great rapport with state, county, and local school officials; the community has greatly benefited through this spirit of cooperation. Gary is committed to green space; he continues to expand and improve our parks and recreation areas. The city has been very supportive of the Stephenson House, Children's Museum, and Watershed Nature Center through Gary's leadership. We are very fortunate to have a mayor who is committed, approachable, and open to the citizens of Edwardsville.

Mayor Gary Niebur is exactly what the City of Edwardsville needs in a mayor. Look around this wonderful city and you can see this mayor's accomplishments. I have personally witnessed improvement in my neighborhood and neighborhoods throughout this city . My home, which was a Rural Route address on Gerber Road, has become part of an exciting area, complete with parks, walking trails, improved roads, curbs, sidewalks, and traffic controls. Mayor Niebur has overseen the residential expansion of our city in order to maintain the high quality of our neighborhoods. I came to this city many years ago to be a part of SIU-E. During my years here, Edwardsville has proven to be a multicultural community with excellent schools, outstanding fire, ambulance and police services, high quality municipal services and controlled growth. Edwardsville is exactly what my family was seeking and we have become respected residents in a town that continues to improve. Gary has worked hard to assure that Edwardsville remains the great community we want it to be. I am supporting his effort to remain in office in order to keep Edwardsville on the same positive path in the years ahead.

During my twenty years as City Clerk of Edwardsville, I had the pleasure of working with Gary Niebur. He has served our city well - first as Director of Parks, then an Alderman and more recently as our Mayor. I know that his main concern is what is best for our City. First of all he cares!! And what are the results? A City we can be proud of! His work ethic is unmatched! His promises to us are promises kept! But, his job is not completed! We want to continue to progress! Please join me in re-electing Gary Niebur as OUR Mayor on April 7th, 2009.

In addition to continued new development in our city, Mayor Niebur's attention to the needs of older neighborhoods is always included. Gary is a creative problem solver, and his passion for the residents of our community has earned our vote for his re- election.

I am pleased to offer my heartfelt endorsement to Gary Niebur for re-election as Mayor of Edwardsville. I have always followed the belief that the best choice you can make in any election is to choose the candidate that you think is the best for the future of your family and the community. Gary has worked hard over the past few years to bring good people to the local government, maintaining high standards of leadership along with openness to the citizens of Edwardsville. His leadership and commitment to the City of Edwardsville has set an example for fellow communities.

I am proud to tell others that I am from Edwardsville, Illinois and proud to endorse Gary Niebur for re-election as Mayor. Mayor Niebur has made educated, thoughtful and careful decisions that have moved Edwardsville to the top of all places to call home in the Metro-East; a community in which a family can live, work and play.

Gary Niebur has been and will continue to be a people's mayor, he is very approachable, a family man with family values. In my past life as Madison County Engineer, I found Gary to be extremely progressive with his ideas in regard to infrastructure and always looking for outside funding to save the city residents their tax dollars. Please join me and give Gary your support.

My former career placed many restrictions on me when it came to publicly endorsing candidates for political office. For the first time ever, I am genuinely happy and even excited to be able to openly support and work for Mayor Niebur in his effort at re-election.
I chose Edwardsville as my home after being away from the area for over 25 years. Why! One only had to look at neighboring communities to understand how fortunate Edwardsville is to be under the leadership of Mayor Niebur. His ability to promote progress through modernization while maintaining the traditions associated with Edwardsville is unmatched. From Public Safety, Education, Business Enhancements, and Housing Development his record of success is unmatched. Mayor Niebur and his staff continue to make Edwardsville the model city in which to live.
Gary has not had opposition in the past. Does that mean one can assume his automatic re-election? Don't get complacent! Work hard and vote!

Kris and I strongly support Gary's reelection as Mayor. He is an excellent ambassador for this city and we are better off for his leadership. As a previous poster wrote, don't be complacent and assume Gary's victory. We all need to do whatever we can to assure his reelection and above all, get out there and vote on April 7th!

The opponent is obviously driven by something other than vision. Only a few years ago, he said he came to Edwardsville from Missouri because Edwardsville is such a wonderful place. Who does he think led this city to a position where it is the envy of most and an example of high standards to all. We are government open to 100 volunteer citizens who are encouraged to bring their ideas and thoughts to membership on boards, committees and commissions. Like them, I'm proud to be on the Niebur team!
Ben Dickmann
I am pleased to support Gary Niebur for mayor. We should all be proud to have a mayor who gives of himself and works tirelessly to make Edwardsville a wonderful community to call home.

We've already had just about all the "change than we can believe in" so I am proud to support Gary's re-election efforts in a big way. I am not only proud to call Gary a friend but it is an honor to call him Mr. Mayor. Gary has earned the right to continue to lead Edwardsville and will have my vote for another term.
Next to Preach, Gary is an institution in Edwardsville and a hometown hero! He is Edwardsville first and always and for that we are so lucky.

I am also very blessed to be able to call Gary my friend... This town is truly blessed by his leadership.

I have known Gary Niebur since my days as a member of the Jaycees. That organization of my "youthful" years in Edwardsville helped set the stage for many in our community who sought public service work and have succeeded in making this city the place it is today. "Service to humanity is the best work of life" was the directive of the Jaycees and Gary Niebur has taken that to heart. I look forward to continuing my public service years with Gary as Mayor. Vote Niebur on April 7th.
Janet Haroian
As a student at SIUE, Mayor Niebur has reached out to the student body on numerous occasions. He has welcomed the students with open arms during the "Party at the Park." He speaks to the students every year at Student Government meetings discussing the issues in the community and what we can do to work together. He has worked to make the community better for the citizens of Edwardsville as well as the students and staff at SIUE.

Mayor Niebur has managed to lead Edwardsville in a positive direction throughout his tenure as Mayor. As a professional City Planner & Certified Economic Development Director I am familar with operations of municipal government and the challenges that face our community's elected officials. Mayor Niebur is a highly respected leader that has the background, leadership and vision to keep Edwardsville moving forward.

Please send a message of "Thanks" to Gary Niebur and re-elect him Mayor. Gary has done an outstanding job and deserves our support.
Gary's accomplishments are too numerous to mention, his leadership and vision have made Edwardsville the envy of the Metro East.
The best way to thank Gary is to elect him by the largest vote margin ever in the City of Edwardsville history.
Thanks in advance,

We have a very deep sense of collective pride tempered by humility knowing that we had the pleasure to serve you, the citizens of this prosperous, historic and beautiful community. We know that while each of us had different platforms, goals and objectives, our common desire was to always do what was best for Edwardsville.
Indeed, it was an honor and privilege to serve you. Now, we ask that you help protect our legacy and – more importantly – protect and preserve this marvelous community by supporting the re-election of Mayor Gary Niebur. As Edwardsville’s only surviving mayors, we honestly believe that our terms in office – while assisted by countless people like you - were investments in the City. We firmly believe without reservation of any kind that our investments are best protected and will yield the best dividends by the re-election of Mayor Niebur.
Over the years, we have respectfully disagreed with each other from time to time. But, with regard to the current campaign there is no debate among us. It is unanimous. Mayor Niebur has earned our admiration, trust and appreciation for what he has accomplished. While public service is always a challenge, we only hope that what we may have accomplished has made his job as your mayor less difficult. But, much more needs to be done.
Therefore, with shared appreciation for you – the People of Edwardsville – we have every reason to believe that your vote on April 7, 2009 will be cast for Gary D. Niebur. You see, there is no doubt in our minds that while addressing what needs to be done and accepting new challenges, Gary Niebur’s desire – like ours – will be to do what is best for Edwardsville. Thank you.

I want to take this opportunity to gladly endorse Mayor Gary Niebur for re-election as our Mayor. We have lived in several communities over the years and have now settled in Edwardsville. This is the community we have chosen to remain in even after we retire. This is "home".
Compared to those other communities, Edwardsville is the most professionally run and wonderfully balanced of all I have seen. It truly is a special place, thanks in large part to Mayor Niebur.
Patricia Wilson
I have worked closely with Mayor Gary Niebur over the past 11 years and I can say unequivocally that on every issue I was involved in, Gary's mandate was and is "do what is in the best interests of the residents of Edwardsville". Not just one or a few, but what is in the best interests of all the residents. I have lived in this City most of my life and have seen it grow and yet retain is character and livablity. I hope you will join me, as I already have, and vote to re-elect Mayor Gary Niebur.
David Gerber
I have lived in Edwardsville since 1981 and I have known Gary for nearly 10 years. Gary is devoted to making Edwardsville a better place to live. Edwardsville is a clean city and a safe place to live. We have had a steady stream of new businesses moving into the area and better roads to accomodate that growth.
We can thank Gary and his team of dedicated city officials for making Edwardsville what it is today. Please vote for Gary Niebur on April 7th.
Mark Muckensturm
While we aren't Edwardsville natives, we chose to make our home in Edwardsville almost thirty years ago when we relocated to the St. Louis area. We have worked in the community and raised our children here. We have seen Edwardsville grow without losing its identity.
Gary Niebur has been a community leader for much of the City's growth. There are few others that have been more dedicated to the city than Gary. That's why we feel Gary should be re-elected as mayor.
David and Jeanne Oate
Dear Mr. Tucker:
As elected officials for the City of Edwardsville, we have chosen public service to help our community. For several years, we have worked hard to lower the City’s tax rate, be good stewards of these funds, and maintain an open-door policy for all residents to have access to their government. Unfortunately, according to Alderman Wesley Tippit’s campaign, he believes otherwise. It’s important to clarify the truth so that voters can base their election decisions on facts.
Alderman Tippitt’s yard signs claim that he will stop out-of-control property taxes. Fact: City Aldermen only control the City’s portion of the tax levy, which is currently just 20% of an individual’s total property tax bill. In addition, the City’s tax rate is the lowest it’s been in 14 years. As a member of the City Council, Mr. Tippit knows this and, in fact, has voted in favor of every rate.
His yard signs also allege wasteful spending. Fact: Aldermen approve every invoice that is paid by the City, and Mr. Tippit has voted to approve those bills every month and has voted in support of each annual budget – not once expressing concern, but rather congratulations for the staff who helped develop the budget.
His yard signs accuse closed-door government. Fact: More than 100 community volunteers serve on various City Boards and Commissions, and dozens have spoken before the City Council and its committees. Citizen participation has been particularly vital at the committee level since that is where most legislation begins.
We believe that Mayor Gary Niebur is to be commended for his hard work that has brought the community so far over the years. While we all welcome open and honest debate on the issues, that debate must be based on facts and not deceptive rhetoric. Gary Niebur has proven his commitment to the residents of Edwardsville through a balanced budget, revitalized downtown, expanded roadways, and more.
While we clearly support the democratic process and respect people’s right to choose their own leader, that choice should be based on facts. We welcome the opportunity to set the record straight and encourage voters to contact any one of us with questions.
